We had a great Thanksgiving with family, friends and food!
We are very fortunate to have so much family nearby. We had a good old-fashion large family Thanksgiving with Justin's eight aunts, eight uncles and bazillion cousins and all of their little kids!
Jaime had so much fun playing and we had fun showing off Vida and catching up with everyone.
There are so many things about Thanksgiving that are strange to me - a holiday focussed on eating/overeating, the fact that turkey must be an integral part of the meal, and "black Friday" that follows it - "Let's say we're thankful for stuff and then go buy more stuff!" But, I think most holidays have a really good message behind them that sometimes gets bulldozed over by all of the other fluff. Before dinner we were asked to sit down at the table and talk about the things we are thankful for before getting our food. I hadn't even thought about it until I was specifically asked to! The first thing I thought of was how grateful I am that I get time with Justin this weekend. He's always so busy and I'm tired of being home alone. This weekend is a Godsend. But when I search further there is so much to be thankful for.
We have healthy children.
Our children have two parents, under one roof, that love them immensely.
We have a home.
We have an income.
We have faith.
We get to serve other people.
We love each other.
Really, what else matters?
