It took Jaime awhile to warm up to Halloween though. When we first walked into the ward party on Saturday she grabbed my legs and yelled "Mommy!" The costumes freaked her out. I kept trying to explain to her that we were all wearing funny clothes, including her. Not sure if she understood but eventually she relaxed. It was Vida and my first time at a social gathering since her birth and Jaime did not appreciate anyone talking to her baby sister, avidly hurling a biting "NO!" in the direction of anyone talking to or about Vida. It was at this party that she first learned the concept of trick-or-treating and she was sold. Best thing ever, right?

This morning I told her it was Halloween. As soon as I explained to her what was going to happen today she said "shees!" and ran off to get her "shoes!" so we could begin. I told her that none of it would start until the evening and distracted her, making note to not mentioning it again until we would leave. Can't blame her, I'd be excited too. We got all dressed up and headed to Justin's work party. Then we trick-or-treated at surrounding businesses and headed home to hand out candy and trick-or-treat around the neighborhood.

Justin and I each got to take her around a couple of streets and I absolutely loved doing it. I was dressed up too and it felt like I was a kid again. She yelled "wun! wun!" in-between houses and said the most adorable "kicky keat!" at each house. She was a hit. I loved getting excited with her and running to every house.
While youth does come to an end, it is wonderful that we get to experience it all again with our children.
