While he's busy outside I'm left with our two little ones inside. Juggling two kids is something I'm getting used to. Admittedly, it's much easier now that Jaime has adjusted to the baby and no longer tells me to be "done" with her, instead telling me to put her on the "butme" ("blanket") or in the "baba chair" ("baby's chair") so that she can have my attention. Jaime's insistence to "help" by picking the baby up when she cries is a whole other story. Gets my blood pumping every time.
I began making yogurt this morning. During one of the time-sensitive parts I was rushing around the kitchen working while Jaime started saying something to me. I couldn't understand what she was saying so I glanced over to make sure she wasn't hurt or in immediate danger and told her she needed to wait. She was insistent and kept repeating the same thing over and over, but I was distracted until it finally hit me - "bug" and "scared". I picked up a crying Vida and sat down next to Jaime, finally able to concentrate on her. "What's the matter?" I said as I looked into her pleading eyes, welled up with tears. That's when I noticed it - a small moth perched atop her bowl of peaches. The poor girl had been terrified the whole time, paralyzed by fear and pleading for my help. I felt awful. She's fascinated with the pretend bugs we draw on paper and form with play dough, but even those make her nervous. I took care of the bug, sat down, hugged her and told her I was sorry about the bug.
A little sniffily she repeated me "sorry bug... sorry bug..."

This is Jaime's scared face, her favorite face to make right now. Perfect for Halloween weekend, and this story.
