Canning is Upon Us

I totally understand now why women get so antsy around and after their due dates.  I was expecting this baby to come already and everyday that goes by seems so long.  I haven't put the days to waste, though! As soon as I got feeling better from my strange and draining sickness, Justin and I got down to canning.

We've discovered that canning is something that we like doing together and you just can't beat the benefits of getting it done.  We bought these peaches from last summer's love affair, the farmers' market, and have been fortunate to have been given free pears.  We also picked (okay, so Justin did all the picking...) a large harvest of apples from the apple tree in our backyard that we plan on making delicious applesauce out of tomorrow.

In retrospect, I'm very glad the baby didn't come this week or last.  I have been able to get so much done: canning, making batches of granola and yogurt (that seem to be our lifeline), putting a few more meals in the freezer, deep cleaning more areas of the house, and finally organizing and de-cluttering the girls' room.  I feel so much better now that her room is ready for her arrival.  In addition, I finally finished editing and distributing all of the pictures I took for people in August and even finished up the part-time work project I picked up from Zinch.

Baby girl, come whenever you like.  In the meantime, I will keep putting my time to good use!

We really enjoy canning together, as well. We spent all weekend canning together, too, and it was such a great time. We can talk, philosophize, plan, plot, and laugh!

Jealous! I would love to can more things, just the cost of getting them is so much lately!
Beautiful pears!
