Christmas

It was Christmas morning and I awoke 3 hours early. Three hours. You'd think that would be no problem, just go back to sleep and get some good rest before the little kid wakes up. But it was Christmas morning! Who cares that I'm an adult, I was excited!

I willed myself to fall back asleep.
There I was anxiously waiting for Justin to open his presents only to see the great look of disappointment on his face. No, no, no and no. He didn't like any of them. My presents were failures. NOOOOO!

Fall back asleep I told myself; fall back asleep!
Christmas morning began and suddenly I realized that there were a lot of people at my house and everyone was opening presents. They snatched up present after present before I could reach one and then, Christmas was over. I didn't get a single present. NOOOOO!

This is ridiculous. Get some sleep before it's too late!
We were sitting before the Christmas tree and something was odd. There didn't seem to be a single present in sight and I couldn't figure it out. I looked at Justin and saw the impish truth in his eyes. He had hidden my presents and wouldn't give me a single one. NOOOOO!

Gahhh! Jodi, get a grip! Your daughter will be up soon and you'll get to have Christmas with your family. Everything will be great.
Jaime was awake and she was about to set her eyes upon her Christmas presents for the first time. Think of the face of excitement! Get ready for it. Get ready. Dang it. Where's the camera? She's coming, coming and yep, you missed it. Not only did you miss the photo op, but you didn't even get to see it first hand. NOOOOO!

And then I awoke to the baby monitor and realized none of the above had happened and that I really did get to have a fantastic Christmas morning with my family. And guess what? It was fantastic. I DID get presents, Justin DID like his presents, and I DID at least try and get her look of excitement.

Welcome Snow

Okay, I admit that I did not want to go out and play in the snow.

But when you get your kid dressed up like this, who can resist?

Jaime on the other hand, was all for it! I didn't expect this.

I have a lasting dislike for snow stemming from an upbringing that didn't involve any of it. NO snow, AT ALL!

But Jaime seemed to think it was interesting and fun.

She happened to have six layers on in all, but it didn't stop her from having a good time.

Until we gave her a toss and she ended up like this.

Then she was done. A warm bath cheered her right up and she was good as new.

But not before I gave in and played too. This is my second snowman, EVER.

Thanks to Justin for encouraging me to play in it, and for doing this to get good pictures:

Along came Jaime

You know how, when you become a mom, you don't get as much time to yourself?

Well,

this was supposed to be my bath until my little sweetie crashed it.

Oh well. There's always after bedtime, right?

Christmas

It's been a loosing battle with our Christmas presents this year. I thought it would be fun to put presents out early.

After Jaime unwrapped four presents in less than a week we decided to take a different approach.

It seemed the only safe place around.

How have all of you handled small children around presents that aren't to be unwrapped?

Love at First Kiss

Jaime's already had her first love. Make that loves.

Jaime has only experienced stuffed-animals in the last two months or so of her life, and she's completely fallen in love with them.

She gives kisses liberally,

and can often be found doing this:

Success (Almost)

After doing Jaime's hair this morning, I showed her the results in the bathroom mirror. Instead of ripping out the bow immediately, like she usually does, she smiled and left it in place...

...until I let her down and she ripped it out before running off.

Little Toddler

As Jaime continues into toddlerhood, she continues to give us a run for our money. She is so pleased with herself for doing stuff like this.

She did try to put them all back, but gave up after about three.

But who can be mad for too long when she's just so dang cute?

By the way, have you ever wondered how to keep your little toddler away from your neatly folded piles of laundry?

I've found the answer.

Also, have you ever wondered how messy half an M&M can be?

Wonder no longer.

There are so many new things to be aware of with a toddler in the house!
